A Little About Our Founder

Joan Gilbert

Joan Gilbert (Mrs.) possesses an extraordinary background in Human Resource Management (HRM), with a wealth of knowledge in the delivery of training and development programmes, which is well-documented within the corporate landscape of Grenada.  Her career in HRM spans thirty (30) years, having held senior managerial positions within the private and public sectors. As a Human Resource Consultant, Mrs. Gilbert has worked extensively throughout the Caribbean Region with major companies in the area of HRM Systems development.

Mrs. Gilbert is a graduate of The University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill Campus holding a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource from The UWI St. Augustine Campus and a Certificate in Public Administration from The UWI Mona Campus.  In addition, she possesses a certificate in Human Resource Management from the Management Institute of National Development (Jamaica).

She is a certified court appointed mediator under the Judicial Education Institute of The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, a Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) Instructor and Assessor, and a part-time Lecturer at The University of the West Indies Open Campus (UWIOC) Grenada.

She is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) and having completed the Director’s Education and Accreditation Programme (DEAP), she holds the designation of Accredited Director (Acc.Dir.).

Mrs. Gilbert is the Founder and Managing Director of the Center for Development and Certification Training (CDACT), which aims to provide comprehensive academic and vocational certification training programmes for persons who wish to pursue and attain academic advancement. CDACT promotes skilled learning, student leadership and personal development through support of the Grenada National Training Agency (NTA) in providing National and Caribbean Vocational Qualifications (NVQ/CVQs) to its successful participants.

What We Do

CDACT aims to provide comprehensive academic support programs and vocational certification training for persons who wish to pursue courses towards attaining academic advancement and international or CARICOM vocational competency certification.

CDACT promotes skilled learning student leadership and development through support by the Grenada National Training Agency (NTA) certified instructors, industry leaders and peer tutors by way of lecturing group learning on-the-job training and assessment of prior learning.

CDACT is approved by the NTA to provide National and Caribbean Vocational Qualification which are work-related competence based certification. Participants can gain certification after their performance of a work role has been successfully assessed against Occupational Standards by trained and certified NTA Assessors.
